May the Fourth be with You! May 4 is Star Wars Day, so this week we're featuring stars from the original Star Wars trilogy in the Connection Finder. We're starting with Sir Alec Guinness, who played Obi-Wan Kenobi, since there is a new Obi-Wan Kenobi series coming to Disney+ soon.

Featured alongside Sir Alec are:

Which one is most closely connected to you? If you're one of the 25.8 million of us who are connected to each other on our big tree you can check with the Connection Finder.

You can check for shared ancestors with the Relationship Finder. Are you a cousin to any of them? Your Relationship Finder Quick Links page (see your profile pull-down menu under "Relationships") has quick links for several notable groups.

Special feature: Check out how you're connected to other notables by using the green MyConnections button in the upper right hand corner of the category page. Browse related categories like Star Wars Actors, Disney Legends Recipients, and Star Wars Crew.

Let us know how you're related below! If you want to share your connection on social media with cousins and friends, click the "get shareable image" below the results, e.g. Luke and Leia. Then just upload it along with the URL of your direct connection. (Please refrain from sharing your connection on the featured profiles themselves, though. It clutters conversations on research and collaboration. Thanks!)

It turns out that I'm connected, but not related by blood, to Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher. Mark is 25 steps from me, while Carrie is 26 steps connected to me.

Thank you for shining a light on both the Star Wars Actors and Star Wars Crew categories that I had created last year or so. As for my connections, here is how they stack up to me:

Steven is:

24 degrees from George Lucas

25 degrees from Alec Guinness

26 degrees from Carrie Fisher

27 degrees from Mark Hamill

27 degrees from John Williams

28 degrees from Kenny Baker

28 degrees from Peter Mayhew

29 degrees from Phil Brown

29 degrees from Harrison Ford

32 degrees from James Earl Jones

36 degrees from David Prowse

and 26 degrees from our Member of the Week, Jim Loden on our single family tree.

But honestly, I'm closer to some of these people in real life through my interactions. I once opened the door for David Prowse, and I got to meet Peter Mayhew in 2017.

Awesome, Steven. I'm a big Star Wars fan, so having a co-founder of Wookieepedia as an active WikiTreer makes me proud.
You're making me blush, Chris. :P

Carrie Fisher is my 15th cousin once removed. Our common ancestor was born in 1477.

Mark Hamill is my 20th cousin. Our common ancestor was born in 1330.

I am 20 degrees from John Williams, 21 degrees from Harrison Ford, 22 degrees from Phil Brown, 23 degrees from George Lucas, 24 degrees from Kenny Baker, 25 degrees from Peter Mayhew and James Earl Jones, 28 degrees from David Prowse.

All connections are on my father's side except Phil Brown.

Uh oh, Luke and Leia are ACTUALLY related through you, and they kissed. ;)

Worse yet, Carrie and Mark are 18th cousins twice removed. surprise

Then again, my father's parents were first cousins, which could explain some of the weirdness in the family. laugh

Nice memory.  I remember exactly who I was with and where.  One of the group became the sort of fan who has (even today) all the toys in their original unopened packaging and the movies on various media.

Hi Steve, Star Wars and Jaws! I will never forget standing in line for tickets for the first three Star Wars movies and for Jaws

As a matter of fact, we had a memorial service in February for our Mum, who died in January. The little out of the way funeral home was packed. Even my ex-husband, Brian, and his brother, Larry attended. When my nieces, saw them, they started yelling Uncle Brian! Uncle Larry! Remember when we all stood in line and saw the first Star Wars movie? That was 1977 and at that time, my eldest niece was 10, my daughter was 9 and my other niece was 8! THAT memorial turned out to be an Irish wake of sorts and Star Wars played a memorable role for several now very middle-aged family members. Naturally, I am 17 trapped in a 77-year-old body.

Huh.  Carrie Fisher was my 9th cousin, apparently, if the DAR and published genealogies have the Brent family of Virginia in the 17th-18th century are right.  How interesting!

My closest is Alec Guinness at 20 degrees.    I confess that I only saw Star Wars once and can't remember much of it, but loved him in Doctor Zhivago and Bridge on the River Kwai.

And next year, hopefully, we can all get a little closer amongst the Wars Stars.

This is an easy one. Carrie Fisher is my 9th Cousin Once Removed - 2 different ways. That translates to 16 degrees of separation.

We are related through her mother, Debbie Reynolds, my 9th Cousin - 2 different ways.
